JAKARTA - Google updated its Android robot logo and mascot with a new 3D look, which is fresher and not just wrapped in green as before.

Some subtle changes can be seen from the long-used android' small-letter stimulus, now being the capital letterA, which adds to the weight of its appearance when it is placed next to Google's logo.

"Our new visual takes inspiration from the Material You design to complement Google brand palettes, as well as adaptability easily. This new Android style reflects Google's logo more and creates a balance between the two," Google said in its announcement, quoted Wednesday, September 6.

Likewise for Android robots, which are a prominent part of the operating system logo with a new 3D display.

The Bugdroid, which is the face and element of the most recognizable Android robot, now appears with more dimensions, and character.

"As a visual marker of our brand, we want the bugdroid to appear dynamic like Android itself. We are also updating the appearance of the entire robot body to ensure it can easily transition between digital and real life environments, making it a versatile and reliable companion across channels, platforms, and contexts," Google explained.

Over the past decade, the Android brand has undergone several updates to modernize its appearance and feel and develop as it needs its community.

In 2019, Google changed the logo to make it easier to access and read. Followed by updating the naming convention for Android releases from odd, for example, Android Lollipop to simple Android 14.

Google said the changes would have an impact on the next release that became clearer and easier to understand globally.

"You're going to start looking at new aspects of brand identities, such as updated logos and 3D bugdroids, appearing on Android devices and in more places starting this year," Google said.
