JAKARTA - Meta will reportedly partner with LG Electronics to release a new mixed reality headset as a strategy in defeating Apple's Vision Pro.

The headset will reportedly use LG screens as well as other components of its subsidiary, LG Innotek, which will be priced at around US$2,000 or equivalent to Rp30 million.

This high-end collaboration model will be launched in 2025 with speculation of naming, Meta Quest 4 Pro. The inclusion of 'Pro' in its name suggests the device may indeed be the result of a 2025 collaboration with LG.

There are no further details regarding the specifications and how the screen of the expensive headset itself is. Meanwhile, Apple embeds a micro-OLED screen on Vision Pro which makes it resemble a pair of ski glasses featuring 23 million pixels.

Apple's advanced screen can be controlled using the eyes, hands and voice of its users. There is also a pair of high-resolution cameras that will send more than one billion pixels per second to the screen, so users can clearly see the world around.

The system helps Vision Pro users to deliver accurate head and hand tracking and real-time 3D mapping, while understanding hand movements from various positions.

In addition, the report also states that Meta next year will also release a low-cost Virtual Reality (VR) or Augmented Reality (AR) headset at a price of below 200 US dollars (Rp. 3 million).

If this news is true, it will be a huge price drop for Quest users, where Quest 2 sells for $299 after Meta had tried to raise prices, and Quest 3 to come was announced at a price of 499 US dollars (Rp7.6 million), as quoted from Maeil Business Newspaper via The Verge, Tuesday, September 5.
