JAKARTA - The Wonder Reader team, which consists of four students from Binus International, finally managed to become the Top 3 winners at the Google Solution Challenger 2023 thanks to the technology it created, namely a reader's tool.

Announced on August 3, Wonder Reader was selected as Top 3 along with two other teams, namely Buzzbusters from Bolivia and HeadHome from Singapore.

Jason Christian Hailianto (21), the Wonder Reader team leader, expressed his happiness when he learned that his team was called the winner. The reason is, this is the first time Indonesian representatives have managed to advance to the top three.

We are very proud to be the representative from Indonesia who first entered the Top 3 in this program. We are grateful for the support from Mitra Netra, friends in the GDSC community, Google Developers and friends and family," Jason said in a statement recently received.

In the presentation session at the Demo Day event yesterday, the Wonder Reader team had a vision to be able to provide everyone with accessible displays, especially creating impacts and benefits for visually impaired people.

Although it has been declared Top 3, they are also open to large-scale collaboration in redesigning the Wonder Reader concept according to the needs of the community in the future.

"We plan to mass-produce this tool and distribute it to communities in need. In the future, we are targeting to make 10 Wonder Readers in the form of DIY kits equipped with simple materials and instructions to make it easier for the community when creating them," Jason Jeremy Wijadi (21) said after his team was announced to have won the 2023 Google Solution Challenger competition.
