JAKARTA - Alphabet Inc., the parent of Google, has delayed the launch of a fully custom chip for Pixel smartphones by 2025. This was reported by The Information on Thursday, July 6, citing two people familiar with the matter.
Google originally planned to release the chip, which is internally called Redondo, next year to replace the semi-sham chips they currently design with Samsung Electronics.
The tech company will also switch from Samsung to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) for chip manufacturing, called Tensors.

Google will continue to work closely with Samsung for another year and will wait until 2025 to introduce a fully custom design chip called Laguna, according to The Information.
The Laguna chip will be based on a 3 nanometer manufacturing process from TSMC, which is currently the world's most advanced chip-making process, the report added.
