JAKARTA - Apple has just announced that it will launch a standalone application called Apple Music Classical later this month. The app, as the name suggests, is devoted to classical music collections.

According to the company, the Music Classical app has been optimized to give users a way to access only the classical music section of the Apple Music catalog. The catalog contains more than five million unique songs and thousands of exclusive albums at launch.

As part of the new app's visual experience, exclusive works of art will be showcased, including a series of high-resolution digital portraits of many of the world's greatest composers.

Apple has also included the ability to access Hi-Res Lossless versions of tracks up to 192 kHz per 24-bit, and in spatial audio. It should be noted, to access this application, users need an internet connection.

Many classics have translations and interpretations recorded and released, but Apple says the standalone apps will offer complete, accurate metadata and the ability to search by composer, work, conductor, or even catalog number.

Apple Music Classical isn't a new streaming service and doesn't require a separate subscription. Anyone who already has an Apple Music subscription through an Individual, Student, Family, or Apple One plan will be able to download and use the app.

The method is exactly like using the existing Apple Music application. Unfortunately, Apple Music Voice Plan members are not included to enjoy this application, as quoted from Digital Trends, Friday, March 10.

The company is known to acquire classic music streamer Primephonic in August 2021.

Back then, Apple said customers would get a much-improved classical music experience starting with Primephonic playlists and exclusive audio content.

Currently, the Apple Music Classical app is available for pre-order for iOS device users (no word yet on support for iPadOS or MacOS), but Apple says an Android version is coming soon.
