JAKARTA - It is claimed that Samsung will cooperate with a global Information Technology (IT) company to develop new Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, such as ChatGPT for its smartphones.
Samsung Electronics CEO TM Roh stated, large-scale interactive AI services will promote the development of mobile technology, citing the advanced ChatGPT chatbot as an example.
"ChatGPT's machine learning and deep learning demonstrate innovation. The language model will pave the way for Samsung to develop further," Roh said during a press conference last week in Malaysia.
ChatGPT is an advanced AI chatbot developed by startup OpenAI, using the Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT) language model to answer questions and solve problems in a natural, human-like conversational way.
Samsung, said Roh, has a research and development center that focuses on AI development and is open to collaborating with various partners to find better AI technologies in the future.
In fact, Roh also mentioned a number of technology companies, such as Microsoft, Google, Amazon and Meta as Samsung's potential business partners regarding AI development.
Quoting The Investor, Thursday, February 16, according to Roh, industry circles around the world are very concerned about whether smartphones with large-scale AI will come out soon.

Samsung has also been a long time player in the AI market by introducing Bixby in 2017. Bixby is described as fundamentally different from other AI assistants such as Apple's Siri and Microsoft's Cortana.
This is because Bixby's integration is deeper and nuanced into the Galaxy's core applications. In fact, Samsung acquired South Korean startup Fluently to strengthen Bixby's conversational skills.
Roh's statement was also reinforced by an anonymous source from Samsung, who revealed that the company is open to cooperating with various global companies for its AI development.
For your information, Samsung is not the only tech giant that has an interest in technologies like ChatGPT, as for Google which recently launched Bard, and Microsoft which brought the technology to its search engine Bing.
