JAKARTA - The Association of Indonesian Internet Service Providers (APJII) officially signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with ZTE and data center company PT DCI Indonesia by launching Node IIX at DCI Cibitung Campus on Tuesday, January 17.

The signing of the MoU was carried out jointly with three parties, including the Chairman of APJII Muhammad Arif, Deputy President Director of DCI Indonesia Marco Cioffi, and Steven Li Wenxing as Sales Director of ZTE.

This collaboration is an important milestone for APJII's collaboration with DCI Indonesia, where this is the first time Node IIX is present outside the APJII cyber building.

"Node IIX is 24 years old or since 1998, with 3TB (tera bytes) of traffic. This is the first time Node IIX is present outside of cyber, by collaborating with DCI and ZTE," said Arif in his speech.

Arif also mentioned that the presence of the Indonesia Internet Exchange (IIX) Node can reduce the risk of Single Point Of Failure (SPOF) which prevents large-scale internet disruptions from occurring.

Not only that, the presence of Node IIX will of course also be able to minimize downtime, errors due to human factors (human error) or procedures.

This collaboration is also encouraged because internet service providers (ISP) in Indonesia are increasing every year.

"The number of ISPs is increasing, now there are 868 ISPs. ISP growth is almost 250 from last year. So this really contributes to increasing traffic," said Arif.

More than that, Arif hopes that this strategic collaboration will run smoothly and develop further in the future.

At the same time, Marco Cioffi said that the hardware from DCI is ready to be used, and targets Node IIX to be active approximately one week from now.
