JAKARTA - Mercedes-Benz announced that it will use the NVIDIA Omniverse platform to design and plan its car manufacturing and assembly facilities.

By leveraging NVIDIA AI and metaverse technologies, Mercedes-Benz can create feedback loops to reduce waste, reduce energy consumption, and continuously improve quality.

Mercedes-Benz has teamed up with NVIDIA to develop software-defined vehicles. Its upcoming fleet will be built on the NVIDIA DRIVE Orin centralized computing, with intelligent driving capabilities tested and validated on the NVIDIA DRIVE Sim platform, built on the Omniverse.

The automaker's latest announcement embeds AI and metaverse technologies further into Mercedes-Benz's development process with smarter and more efficient manufacturing.

NVIDIA Omniverse is an open 3D development platform that enables companies and institutions across all industries to build and operate digital twins for industrial and scientific use cases.

Based on the Universal Scene Description (USD), NVIDIA Omniverse enables enterprises and developers to build custom 3D to break down data silos and interact with single truth source views of their merged simulations.

With Omniverse, Mercedes-Benz planners can access the factory's digital twin, review and also optimize the factory as needed. Omniverse will quickly evaluate and validate cars in cyberspace, which it then implements live in the real world to ensure maximum efficiency and ergonomics for factory workers.

Additionally, Mercedes-Benz can synchronize factory locations anywhere in the world by connecting the Omniverse with its internal MO360 Data Platform.
