JAKARTA - TikTok launched a new feature that allows you to find out the reason why a content appears on the FYP (For Your Page) page and is recommended for you.

“Today we are adding to that toolbox with a feature that helps bring more context to content recommended in the For You feed,” said TikTok in an announcement shared on Tuesday, December 20.

FYP enables people to discover an extraordinary diversity of ideas, creators, products and entertainment. TikTok typically recommends content by ranking videos based on several factors, such as your activity on the app, which includes adjustments for things you think you're not interested in.

"Our goal is to provide a wide range of relevant and entertaining content. To help people understand why certain videos were recommended to them, we'll be rolling out a new tool in the coming weeks," he adds.

How does it work?

  1. In the FYP feed, tap on the share panel.
  2. After that, tap the question mark icon that says "Why this video"
  3. From there, you can see why certain videos were recommended to you.

"This feature is one of many ways we're working to bring meaningful transparency to the people who use our platform, and builds on the many steps we've taken to achieve that goal," the company explained.

Going forward, TikTok says it will continue to expand this feature to bring more detail and transparency to content recommendations.
