JAKARTA - General Motors (GM) officially launched its Dealer Community Charging Program by installing its first EV charging station in Wisconsin and Michigan.

This program is the resulting program of GM's collaboration with Flo which was first announced in 2021 which brings air conditioning for EVs with 19.2 kW to locations in communities selected by local GM dealers.

The FLO was selected as the provider of AC charging stations for the program and the company will provide an initial charging station.

Through the Dealer Community Filling Program, GM and its dealers work together to expand access to charging in the community, including rural and urban areas that are underserved where EV charging is often limited or absent.

Of the total 1,000 dealers participating, each dealer has the right to receive up to 10 charging stations of Level 2 19.2 kilowatt. GM then connects dealers with installation providers as needed to place charging stations in the main community location.

Through this program, GM has a final target, where the company will install up to 40,000 Level 2 charging stations across the US and Canada, nearly doubling the current number of Level 2 public charging stations.

Not only for GM customers, this charging station will be available to all EV drivers, and will provide the most available power for Level 2 chargers.

Almost 90% of the US population lives within 10 miles of GM dealers. Our dealers are deeply engaged and trusted in their communities and are well positioned to determine locations that expand access to EV charging, including in small businesses, entertainment venues, schools, and other popular destinations, said Hoss Hassani, vice president of GM EV Ecosystems in an announcement on Twitter.

Louis Tremblay, FLO president and CEO said he was very proud to support this extraordinary effort to develop access to public EV charging across thousands of local communities across North America.

"Together, the FLO, GM, and GM dealers will present reliable charging for drivers from the side of the road to the countryside," concluded Tremblay.
