JAKARTA - After the beta launch was limited in April, now the RealityScan app from Epic Games is available for free download on iOS.

RealityScan is a 3D scanning app for mobile devices that easily converts photos into high fidelity 3D models, without requiring experience to start.

Users simply take pictures of objects using their smartphones in various angles, then the RealityScan app will use cloud processing to convert them into 3D models, which can then be exported to Sketchfab, a platform for 3D model sharing.

From Sketchfab, users can bring the results to applications such as Epic's own Unreal Engine or Twinmotion, MetaHuman, and even other post-processing tools.

This app easily displays every image that has been taken in augmented reality (AR). With RealityScan, now anyone can create a 3D model of real-world objects and use it to improve their visualization project realism.

In a statement received on Tuesday, December 6, RealityScan users will automatically be upgraded to their first Sketchfab Pro account for a year after their first Sketchfab upload.

For information, the RealityScan was created by Capturing Reality, a developer of a photogravimetry solution that is part of the Epic Games family, its mission is to make 3D scanning accessible to all creators.

Currently, RealityScan is only available for iPhone and iPad, but Epic Games says the Android version is working on for 2023.
