JAKARTA - In early October, Microsoft officially stopped supporting the SwiftKey keyboard, but suddenly the company returned it to the App Store.

Microsoft Maps and Local Services Division CTO, Pedram Rezaei stated on his Twitter page that many users have asked for SwiftKey to return to their iOS devices.

"With lots of requests, we're bringing #SwiftKey back to iOS," Rezaei tweeted.

Despite returning, the last SwiftKey update is still from August 11, 2021, it's unclear if or when it will be updated.

Citing The Verge, Saturday, November 19, many users complained about problems ahead of the SwiftKey deprecation, but it seems that some changes are expected. This application is still available for the Android version.

"(Company will) invest heavily in keyboards," another tweeted Rezaei.

Rezaei did not explain further about what this massive investment means, it is likely that Microsoft will present many interesting features for the AI-based keyboard that has been resurrected on iOS.

SwiftKey became part of Microsoft in 2016 when the software giant bought the company for $250 million.

Now, users can again download SwiftKey for iOS from the App Store, and an Android version is available from the Google Play Store.
