Elon Musk Says Blocked Twitter Accounts Can't Be Activated Immediately, Wait For A Clear Process

JAKARTA - Blocked Twitter accounts will not be allowed back onto Twitter until the social media platform has a "clear process for doing so." This statement came from the new owner of Twitter, Elon Musk, in a tweet on Wednesday, early morning US time.

This statement provides further clarity on the potential return of the most notorious banned user on Twitter, former US President Donald Trump.

"Creating such a process would take at least a few more weeks," Musk said in a tweet. The new timeline implies Trump will not return in time for midterm elections on November 8.

Twitter users, advertisers and employees themselves have been watching closely for signs of what Musk will be up to in his first week as a Twitter owner.

The Tesla CEO previously said Twitter should not permanently ban users and that he would lift the ban on Trump, who had been blocked because of the risk of further incitement to violence following the riots at the US Capitol last year.

Musk's tweet came after he held a meeting with several civil rights organizations including Color of Change, the Anti-Defamation League, and the NAACP on Tuesday, November 1.

"During the meeting, Musk committed to upholding Twitter's content moderation policies and enforcement around election integrity," Rashad Robinson, president of Color of Change, said in an interview, told Reuters.

Musk also reiterated in a tweet last Wednesday that Twitter will create a content moderation board made up of representatives with "very different views."

According to Robinson, the billionaire stated during this meeting that he wanted civil society groups to join Twitter's board. But he also added that discussions about it were still at an early stage.

"Actions speak louder than words," Robinson said. "The issues discussed at this meeting are only the tip of the iceberg."

In addition to ensuring that accounts are blocked, Muskl also proposes that verified blue tick account owners must pay a subscription fee of US$ 8 per month in the future. However, he did not mention in detail how the fate of Twitter Blue, which has been a subscription feature, will be in the future.
