JAKARTA - Every day, there are one billion people sending messages across businesses across all Meta apps. To that end, Meta introduces a new way to purchase Instagram Direct Messages (DMs).

This news was first announced by the big boss of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg who shared a screenshot of him buying a surfing tool in an Instagram DM.

A feature called "Payments in Chat" allows you to chat with businesses on Instagram, and also allows you to make payments directly in the app, without having to leave the chat.

For the payment, you can use Meta Pay. Apart from that, you can also track orders and ask some questions there.

"You can now buy products from small businesses and track your orders in chat on Instagram in the US," Zuckerberg said in the announcement post.

With this feature, small entrepreneurs can chat in real-time with customers, make payment requests with item descriptions and prices, and request and collect payments at one time.

"As we look to the next chapter of the internet and the metaverse, we hope to give people more access to tools like in-chat payments that will make people's lives easier," Meta wrote in its announcement.

The launch of this feature was right when the company changed its name from Facebook Pay to Meta Pay last month.

At the time, Zuckerberg said while the service was the same, the renaming was Meta's first step toward creating a digital wallet for the metaverse.
