JAKARTA – The domain name Ethereum or Ethereum Name Service (ENS) which makes it easy for the crypto community to name their digital wallet addresses.

The reason is that this ENS allows crypto users to no longer use a series of random combinations of numbers and letters in their wallet addresses. They just need to use this ENS instead, say jaka.eth. Users can also sell the ENS to other parties.

According to a recent report, ENS “000.eth” just sold for 300 ETH or around 320,000 (approximately IDR 4.7 billion). In fact, it is the second highest selling .eth domain name. To be sure, this isn't too surprising given the growing interest in the Ethereum Name Service (ENS).

According to NFTGo's report, on July 3, 2022, someone had paid 300 ETH for the 000.eth ENS domain. At the time, this amounted to 316,862 US dollars. Reportedly, this is the second highest selling in the history of .eth domain names.

Meanwhile, the owner of the 000.eth ENS domain owns several other blue-chip ENS and NFT domains. ENS domains include samanatha-000.eth and samanatha.eth. Meanwhile, the wallet also holds Bored Ape #3553, the latter of which costs 115 ETH and Fidenza #299, the latter of which retails for 85 ETH.

Before 000.eth which sold for IDR 4.7 billion, the first most expensive domain name was paradigm.eth. The ENS was sold for 420 ETH which is worth 1.5 million US dollars (approximately IDR 22.5 billion) in October 2021.

The massive purchase raised suspicions that the buyer of ENS paradigm.eth was the venture capital (VC) company Paradigm. However, Paradigm denied this speculation by stating that the company did not buy the ENS.

According to the official website, Ethereum Name Service is a distributed, open and extensible naming system based on the Ethereum blockchain. Simply put, ENS allows crypto users to create simple and easy-to-remember names for their crypto wallet addresses.

The emergence of ENS certainly provides convenience for the crypto community. The reason is that with ENS the community no longer needs to use the previous wallet address which is composed of a long and random series of letters and numbers.
