JAKARTA - The EA Sports PGA Tour has been delayed for an entire year, the publisher said on Tuesday, March 22. The game was originally announced in late March 2021, and was marked by a spring 2022 launch window two months later.

According to Polygon, based on a news release from Electronic Arts on Tuesday, they didn't give a reason for the delay, nor did they announce the game's platform.

Apparently, the EA Sports PGA Tour will launch before or around the time of the Masters Tournament in 2023. This is done to draw interest in the event and the Augusta National Golf Club, both of which will be reappearing in video games for the first time since 2013. The Masters are traditionally scheduled for the first full week of April.

Tuesday's news release also reaffirms that the video game will be the only one to feature all four major Masters tournaments, The US Open, The British Open, and The PGA Championship.

Career mode will also feature the burgeoning Korn Ferry Tour, where most newcomers to professional golf compete first before getting their tour cards.

EA Sports PGA Tour will be the publisher's first simulation golf game since Rory McIlroy's 2015 PGA Tour for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It was the first sports title to be built with EA's Frostbite engine, following 2013's Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14, which ended the highly popular three-year video game for Augusta National.
