JAKARTA - WhatsApp, one of the best messaging services in the world, has just added reaction messages with emojis in beta on Android.

In a WABetaInfo report, the emoji reactions started appearing in beta version 2.22.8.3 of its Android app. This new feature will give users a quick and easy way to respond to incoming messages.

How to use it is quite easy, users just long press the received message then the user can react with one of the six available emojis, thumbs up, heart, crying, laughing, surprised face, or folded hands which are usually interpreted as thank you.

Along with its appearance on Android, there are signs that emoji reactions are also underway for the service on iOS and desktop apps.

In early January, the WhatsApp beta app on iOS already had a setting to control Reaction Notifications, and a similar setting appeared in the beta version of the desktop app earlier this month.

Cited from The Verge, Wednesday, March 23, this feature is not only owned by WhatsApp, it can even be said that the messaging application with the green logo is quite lagging behind.

Meanwhile, other messaging apps such as iMessage, Google Messages, Discord, Telegram, Twitter DM, and its sibling, Facebook Messenger already feature more emoji reactions, making WhatsApp the last among its competitors.

Since this is still a beta version, unfortunately, WhatsApp has not officially confirmed when its two billion users will get the emoji reaction feature.
