JAKARTA - In the latest iOS version currently in testing, Apple's iOS 15.4 will bring more than just AirTag anti-stalker messages and direct iPhone contactless payments. But Siri voice options are genderless for English speakers.

The voices, recorded by members of the LGBTQ community, are meant to increase the diversity of Apple assistants.

This will give users more options for the voice that speaks to them for their virtual assistant. Last year, Apple added two Siri options recorded by the Black voice actor.

"We're excited to introduce the new Siri voice for English speakers, giving users more options to choose the voice that speaks to them," Apple told Axios.

"Millions of people around the world depend on Siri every day to help get things done, so we're working to make that experience as personal as possible."

The move comes roughly a year after Apple's last major push to make Siri more inclusive. As of iOS 14.5, Siri no longer uses a female voice by default, users must first vote before using it in the first place.

Unfortunately, Apple did not go into further details regarding this new Siri voice, and it is not yet known if or when it will be available in other languages.

Apple also didn't say when the final iOS 15.4 would be ready to roll out to users, though the company will reportedly be holding an event in early March that the company might leverage to release new software.
