After France, The Minister Of Communication And Information Invites The US To Participate In Indonesia's Digital Transformation

JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Informatics (Menkominfo) Johnny G Plate met with Deputy Ambassador of the United States to Indonesia, Heather Variava to discuss opportunities for cooperation to accelerate digital transformation.

"The discussion on the technological aspects extends to the human resources or digital talent provided by the Ministry of Communication and Information. America is providing support," said Johnny, in a written statement, Monday, August 31.

During the meeting, the two of them discussed Improvement on Television Transmitting Stations (ITSS). Where, Minister Johnny invited the US government to provide financial support to participate in the development of the digital economy and digital broadcasting in Indonesia.

"Specifically, the Deputy Ambassador conveyed the commitment and desire for the participation of the United States government and US companies in financing digital transformation development programs, including digital broadcast, information technology and ICT infrastructure," said Johnny.

The topic of digital talent was also discussed at the meeting, regarding the fulfillment of intermediate level digital talent and digital literacy at the basic level.

"We also discussed how to maintain a better digital space related to cyber security and cyber crime. The understanding is the same, America shares America's values and share experience, we also share the current conditions in Indonesia," said Johnny.

In the same press release, Variava conveyed the opportunity for US companies in Indonesia to provide support for the development of the digital economy sector.

"There is an opportunity between the United States government to cooperate with companies and the Indonesian government. But there is also an opportunity to support training and education related to human capital development, which is a priority for Mr. Jokowi (President Joko Widodo)," said Variava.

The Ministry conveyed that cooperation opportunities with foreign countries in the telecommunications sector, including with the United States, will be followed up with the stages and mechanisms applicable in Indonesia.

Apart from the United States, some time ago France and Japan were also interested in cooperating with Indonesia in the telecommunications sector.
