JAKARTA - Tokopedia has just released the VoiceOver feature that makes it easier for people with disabilities, especially the visually impaired, to use the application according to their needs.

"Through this feature, Tokopedia can become a platform that makes it easier for more people from various walks of life, including people with disabilities," said Engineering Manager of Tokopedia and developer of the VoiceOver feature, Ferico Samuel in a virtual press conference, Friday, December 3.

Ferico explained, the presence of the VoiceOver feature also involved people with disabilities in testing this feature, where they also tested the quality of the feature.

"We did the initial testing around February earlier this year, we did research, tested content continuously, exchanged ideas with the UX Writer team, until we tried it ourselves with a blind eye. And finally invited friends with disabilities to test this feature," said Ferico.

"We ask them to try it, explain what is lacking, is it okay yet, so according to our disabled colleagues, what is better, the process is quite long and continuous," he added.

Therefore, Tokopedia's visually impaired user, Maria Hardono, said, "The Tokopedia VoiceOver feature helps me in the online shopping process. I can listen to product reviews from other buyers, shop with e-wallet and participate in various promos and live shopping," said Maria.

Currently, the VoiceOver feature can be accessed through the iOS system and will continue to be developed for all types of mobile phone systems, including Android in the future.

"We brought this to Apple users first because the technology company already has the VoiceOver feature in it, especially Siri. For Android users, wait for the play date," concluded Ferico.
