JAKARTA - Twitter web users can now upload full-size images without having to go through editing to crop them first.

Twitter launched this capability on mobile devices earlier this year, and now the company is launching a website version. On the web version of Twitter, images will now be displayed in full without any cropping.

Previously, the platform would automatically crop images to display in a more compact way on the timeline, where users often scrolled without clicking on image previews.

Currently, if the user uploads an image, it will be shown a preview of what it will look like when it is shared on the timeline. The social media giant first tested the changes in March with a small percentage of iOS and Android users, with Twitter saying it wanted to give people an accurate preview of what the image would look like when uploaded on the timeline.

Quoting TechCrunch, Friday, November 12, automatic image cropping is also a hassle for photographers and artists, who generally prefer to have complete control over how their images are displayed.

Although now when an image is tweeted it will take up a lot of space in the web version of the user's timeline, but that's not a problem compared to the user having to manually click on the image to see the whole thing.

This change comes as Twitter is making its platform more accessible to users, keeping users from turning to other social media. Recently, Twitter also released a new capability, where users can use Spaces, its social audio without an account on the website version.
