PT INKA Showcases Electric Bus, Can Operate 250 KM

JAKARTA - Indonesian SOEs are now ready to produce electric vehicles. This is evidenced by the steps of PT INKA (Persero) which will produce electric-powered buses.

PT INKA, which has been known as a train manufacturer, has begun to introduce an electric bus prototype in an electric vehicle exhibition held by the Ministry of Transportation at the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park, Magelang Regency, Saturday, November 6.

General Manager of Development of PT INKA Junaidi said PT INKA as a train manufacturer, but now also makes electric buses because electric buses are in principle almost the same as train designs and even simpler.

"Therefore, INKA will also enter electric buses, both 8 meters and 12 meters. The prototype that has been finished and brought to this exhibition is an 8 meter bus. Now we are in the process in Madiun for the 12 meters and 8 meters. meters," he said.

He said the electrical resistance of the prototype bus could reach 250 kilometers. "Electricity resistance reaches 0-200 kilometers, but the remaining 20 percent can reach 250 kilometers," he said.

According to him, the prototype of the electric bus has been tested in Madiun, Bali and Jakarta. "Later, if someone orders us to produce a new one, we are ready for the components and factory facilities," he said.

He said that now towards a "green city" with low-emission vehicles, certain areas such as Borobudur or others will be filled with electric-based vehicles.

"The price of an electric car is about 3 times that of a gasoline/diesel-fueled vehicle, so it is more expensive. However, electric vehicles are very efficient in terms of operation and maintenance, because electric cars have very few components," he said.
