Cool, West Java Sends 6 Representatives To The Semifinals Of Badminton At Papua National Sports Week

JAKARTA - West Java has passed five representatives to the semifinals of the 2021 Papua National Sports Week (PON) at Waringin Sports Center (GOR), Jayapura, Tuesday.

Citing Antara, the six representatives were evenly distributed in all numbers, namely men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles.

In the men's singles number, West Java passed two players, namely Panji Ahmad Maulana and Syabda Putra Belawan. In the quarter-finals, Panji defeated DKI Jakarta representative Yonathan Ramlie, while Syabda won over Central Java representative Alberto Alvin.

In the men's doubles sector, West Java only passed one representative, namely Pramudia Kusumawardana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri thanks to his victory over the East Java pair Ade Bagus Sapta/Hendra Gustiawan.

In the semifinals, the second seed Pramudia/Fikri will face third-seeded DKI representatives Amri Syahnawi/Yeremia Erich Yoche.

Meanwhile, West Java sent one representative in the women's singles. The fourth seed, Saifi Riska, has the right to advance to the semifinals after overthrowing the Central Java athlete A'Isyah Sativa. Saifi will meet Papuan women's singles Gabriela Meilani Moningka, who eliminated the top seed from DKI Jakarta Ruseli Hartawan in the quarter-finals.

In the women's doubles sector, West Java also passed one representative, namely Melani Mamahit/Rayhan Vania Salsabila who defeated the host pair Brigita Marcelia/Gabriela Meilani in the quarter-finals.

Furthermore, Melani/Rayhan has been waiting for the third-seeded Banten pair Serena Kani/Tryola Nadia.

Another West Java representative in the semifinals was the mixed doubles pair Andhika Ramadiansyah/Hediana Julimarbela who won over the East Java doubles Reza Pahlevi/Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma.

In the semifinals, Andhika/Hediana will face Central Java pair Bagas Maulana/Indah Cahya Sari.

Meanwhile, other provinces such as Central Java sent two representatives to the semifinals, East Java four representatives, and DKI three representatives.

The semifinals will take place today starting at 15.00 p.m. local time.

The Papua PON badminton competition will last until October 13 to compete for five gold medals from the men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles, and mixed doubles sectors.
