Xavi Has Opened The Door For Barca, Just Waiting For Laporta's Proposal

JAKARTA - Barcelona legend who currently coaches Qatari club Al Sadd Xavi Hernandez said he was "opening the door" to replace Ronald Koeman at Camp Nou.

Koeman's future with Barcelona is in jeopardy following some poor results, including a 3-0 loss to Benfica in the Champions League and a 2-0 loss at the hands of Atletico Madrid.

However, Barcelona president Joan Laporta said the Dutchman was still trusted to lead the Catalan club at least until the end of the season.

Citing Antara, a number of candidate names were linked with coaching positions if Koeman was finally fired, one of them being former club captain, Xavi.

Before Koeman was appointed as Barca coach last year, Xavi's name had actually surfaced.

Xavi revealed that he turned down an offer to coach Barca last year when the club was still led by president Josep Maria Bartomeu. However, he is now open to accepting new offers.

"Every offer will be evaluated and then a decision will be made," Xavi told TVE when asked about a possible offer from Barcelona, as quoted by Marca.

"I don't know where the future will take me, but I'm open to anything."

The statement was made by Xavi ahead of the UEFA Nations League final between France and Spain in Milan on Monday morning.

Now, Xavi is just waiting for Laporta's proposal.
