New Owner Promises World Class Player Purchase For Newcastle

JAKARTA - One of the new owners of Newcastle United, Amanda Staveley promised that the club will bring in world-class players so that they can compete for the title.

Staveley's company PCP Capital Partners bought a 10 percent stake in the Premier League team when it was acquired by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) from Saudi Arabia for £300 million (approximately Rp5.82 trillion) on Friday, 08 October.

The consortium has a majority stake in Newcastle, which is 80 percent, while the other 10 percent is held by The Reuben Brothers.

The new owners have promised to invest heavily in Newcastle and Staveley himself has promised to bring in star players.

"We're going to be competing for world-class players," Staveley said in an interview with The Sun.

"We have big ambitions – I hope it will be a game-changer for Newcastle United."

"But if you don't put the infrastructure around a world-class player and you don't have a team to play with, you're not getting anything."

"The training ground is very poor and requires a large amount of investment," added the British businessman.

"Fortunately, that's one of the areas that Financial Fair Play isn't restricted to."

"There is no point in having fantastic players when there is no place for them to train."

"To get to the top of the Premier League you need a strong foundation, not just great players. They have to be strong and we need to build on that."

"We also want to invest in St James' Park - needs a little more love."

The Magpies have been associated with several big names since being acquired by new owners.

Ciro Immobile, Mauro Icardi, Philippe Coutinho, and Kalidou Koulibaly are among the names reported to be targets for the club.

There has also been speculation surrounding the future of current coach Steve Bruce, who admits he could be picked up before Newcastle's next Premier League game.

Antonio Conte is said to be one of the candidates to replace the Manchester United legend.
