JAKARTA - Germany's new coach Hansi Flick says he is not feeling pressured to live up to his country's expectations as his team draws closer to a spot at the 2022 World Cup finals.

Flick replaced Joachim Loew earlier this year after the German national team had disappointing results in the last two international tournaments.

So far, the former Bayern Munich coach has won three of three matches.

A win over Romania on Saturday will see them firmly at the top of Group J of Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

"I don't feel any pressure. It's a task you can do with great joy," Flick told a news conference quoted by Antara from Reuters on Friday.

"You have to have a good team around you... people with great quality who make you better. I feel safe and it's a lot of fun."

Germany can secure a place at next year's World Cup if they beat Romania and North Macedonia next week.

The Panzers currently have 15 points from six matches in Group J standings, with Armenia in second place with 11 and Romania in third place with 10.

Under Flick, Germany has scored 12 goals and has not conceded once in those three games.

"We have to win this game tomorrow and that's our goal," said Flick. "I will accept the score 1-0, one goal, not conceded, three points. It is a result we can live with. However, it will not be an easy game."

"All my players are fit and healthy. We are very satisfied and have a very good atmosphere and what we liked the most in yesterday's training was the high intensity," he said.

"Romania wants to play football, bring the ball forward, they have kept clean sheets in the last three games. So we have to have the intensity to put them under pressure."
