Unlike The US Open, The Dry Conditions At Indian Wells Allow Tsitsipas To Go To The Restroom Less Often

JAKARTA - Greece's Stefanos Tsitsipas, who was in the spotlight at the US Open for taking longer bathroom breaks, said on Wednesday dry conditions at Indian Wells allowed him to go to the bathroom less often.

"It's very dry here," Tsitsipas said ahead of his first match at Indian Wells.

"That's good for me because it sweats less, makes bathroom breaks shorter and causes fewer complaints. So so far a good sign," said Tsitsipas.

Tsitsipas felt innocent when Briton Andy Murray suspected him of cheating during a bathroom break during a critical point in their first-round match at Flushing Meadows which Tsitsipas won.

At that time, Tsitsipas insisted that he was innocent because there was no time limit for resting in the bathroom.

An ATP Tour source last month told Reuters changes to bathroom breaks and medical time limits on the pitch were being formulated.

The world number 3 became the main topic of discussion this summer, when he said he would not receive a COVID-19 vaccine unless required by the ATP Tour, prompting a rebuke from Greek government officials.

On Wednesday, Tsitsipas declined to say whether he had been vaccinated.
