JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) continues to accelerate the completion of the construction of the VVIP airport in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan. Including one of the concerns is the air side of the airport which consists of runways to control towers.
The Directorate General (Ditjen) of Highways of the Ministry of Public Works said the latest progress of the construction of runways, aprons and taxiways, which are an important part of the air side facility at IKN airport, has reached 78.919 percent.
"The construction of the VVIP IKN airport continues, including the area on the runway, apron and taxiway. The current physical progress has reached 78.919 percent and will be completed soon," explained the Directorate General of Highways of the Ministry of Public Works in its official Instagram upload @pupr_binamaraga, quoted Thursday, November 28.
In addition, the Directorate General of Highways also reported that the progress of road access development to the airport had reached 66.94 percent. It is hoped that the presence of the IKN airport with the code International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) WALK can provide easy access to transportation in the new capital city.
"On the other hand, the construction of the access road to the airport is also ongoing. The construction process reaches 66.94 percent and is currently focusing on the construction so that it can be used immediately," he said.
"It is hoped that the IKN Airport project and its surroundings can provide easy access and strengthen transportation infrastructure in IKN," he said.
Previously, IKN Airport in Sepaku District, North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan, is now officially registered internationally and has the code International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) WALK.
