Getting To Know The Kamoro Traditional Dance Performed Ahead Of The Aeromodeling Competition At PON Papua

JAKARTA - The aeromodeling competition in PON XX Papua begins today, Monday. The traditional Kamoro dance from the Aimikamo Studio performed at the opening of the match which was held at the Jalan Poros SP 5 Timika venue, Mimika Regency.

Launching the official website of PON XX Papua, Mariana Nakiaya, the head of the Aimikamo Nawaripi Studio, explained that the dance that was displayed told about the evacuation of the Kamoro Tribe community from Pasir Hitam Village to Timika City.

This evacuation occurred because of the riots and the Kamoro people were affected by the tailings disposal. At that time, Mimika was still in the administrative area of Fakfak Regency, Papua Province.

The security forces evacuated the Kamoro people to a safer place in Timika City and until now they are living peacefully and peacefully.

Mariana said she was happy to be involved in the XX Papua PON and given the opportunity to showcase the Kamoro Tribe culture

"My friends and I are very happy because we can get the opportunity at PON XX Papua," he said.
