JAKARTA - European Cup champions (Euro) Italy are scheduled to face Copa America champions Argentina in June 2022, European and South American football's governing body said on Tuesday.

"The agreement reached by the two organizations currently covers three editions of the match between the two continental champions", UEFA said in a statement.

However, the stadium or the name of the match has not been determined. However, a source told Reuters that the match had been given the title 'Finalsima'.

The announcement came after UEFA and CONMEBOL strongly opposed FIFA's plans to host the biennial World Cup.

The match is part of what UEFA has called an "expansion of cooperation" between the two organizations.

"The organization of these matches is part of the expansion of the cooperation between UEFA and CONMEBOL, which mainly covers the categories of women's football, futsal and youth football, referee exchange and technical training schemes", UEFA said.

There is no FIFA name in organizing the match.

UEFA also announced that it was setting up a joint office with CONMEBOL in London, which would be responsible for coordinating "projects of mutual interest."

Earlier this month, UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin threatened to boycott European countries' participation in the World Cup if FIFA went ahead with plans to hold the tournament every two years instead of four.

"We can decide not to play in the World Cup", Ceferin told the Times newspaper.

"As far as I know, South America is also in agreement with us. Good luck with a World Cup like that."
