JAKARTA - The Peace Council on Tuesday announced the arrival of the first 'tactical vehicle' at the International Stabilization Force (ISF) base near the Gaza Strip, Palestine as logistical preparations continue for the deployment of multinational forces in the region.

"Tactical vehicles arrived at the Logistics Support Area: Endurance," he wrote on the X social media, accompanied by photos documenting the arrival, as reported by Anadolu (1/7).

Meanwhile, Israeli media correspondent i24news Ariel Oseran quoted the Peace Council writing on X, "The first tactical vehicle has arrived at a base near Kerem Shalom (southern region) that will house the International Stabilization Force (ISF) that will operate in Gaza."

Meanwhile, Hamas Group spokesman Hazem Qassem said on Facebook, the group hopes the council's move will mark "the beginning of the implementation of the task given to them," namely separating Palestinians in Gaza from Israeli forces and trying to stop Israel's violations.

"We call on the Peace Council to start the implementation of the provisions of the plan to end the war in Gaza," Qassem wrote.

He said it must include the formation of a national committee tasked with managing the territory, providing "real assistance," forcing Israel to withdraw, and launching reconstruction efforts.

Qassem added that reconstruction is "a fundamental right for all our people wherever they are in the Gaza Strip."

As previously reported, the Hamas delegation arrived in Cairo, Egypt on Tuesday to hold talks with Egyptian officials and mediators on the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

The Peace Council was formed in January at the initiative of US President Donald Trump as part of efforts to reach a peaceful settlement in Gaza.

The first meeting of the council on Gaza was held on February 19 at the US Institute of Peace in Washington under the leadership of President Trump.

The initiative is part of the second phase of President Trump's 20-point plan to end the war in Gaza, which was supported by the UN Security Council Resolution from last November.

The first phase of the ceasefire agreement includes a ceasefire and prisoner exchange between Israel and Palestinian factions, a permanent ceasefire, and Israel's gradual withdrawal from the area. However, Israel continues to violate the agreement almost every day.

In the second phase, Israel is expected to carry out further withdrawals from the area, while international stabilization forces will take over security responsibilities, including facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid and reconstruction materials.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Health in Gaza revealed that the number of deaths due to the Israeli genocide in the Palestinian enclave since October 2023 has reached 73,066 people, while the number of injured reached 173,514 people.

In addition to human casualties, the campaign caused widespread damage, destroying about 90 percent of Gaza's civilian infrastructure, while the United Nations estimates the cost of reconstruction needed to reach about $70 billion.
