JAKARTA - The second batch of the Indonesian Team for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics returned to the country.

The second group, which consisted of 16 people, consisted of 12 athletes and 4 coaches. These twelve athletes came from Badminton (7), Archery (4), and Swimming (1). Meanwhile, the 4 trainers came from Badminton (1), Swimming (1), and Archery (2).

The second batch using the commercial flight GA 875 landed in Indonesia at 17.15 p.m. Indonesian Western Time (WIB), Sunday, August 1. The group, which were mostly athletes, were immediately welcomed by the Executive Committee of NOC Indonesia, Ismail Ning, and Minister of Youth and Sports Zainudin Amali.

Ismail said the Indonesian people are grateful and give the highest appreciation to the athletes who have fought in this Olympics.

"We from NOC Indonesia together with the community thank and give the highest appreciation to the Indonesian sports patriots who have returned home today. We are proud of the struggle of the athletes", said Ismail.

“And of course we have to keep praying for the athletes who are still fighting in Tokyo, wishing them the best. For the athletes who have not yet received medals, we hope that they will not be discouraged and keep practicing for the future with the target of qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics", he continued.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Youth and Sports Zainudin Amali also expressed his gratitude to the athletes who had fought to the maximum in Tokyo. He said the ministry and government were grateful for the athletes' struggle.

In addition, Zainudin also said the athletes must continue to be excited because the qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics will begin in the near future. Therefore, athletes and coaches must again prepare for these qualifying tournaments.

Zainudin also conveyed greetings and thanks from President Joko Widodo to the athletes who had returned to the country.
