One Goal By Eden Hazard's Brother Made Portugal Fail To Retain European Cup Title, Ronaldo Helpless

JAKARTA - The Belgian national team managed to beat Portugal in the round of 16 of the 2020 European Cup with a score of 1-0. These results destroyed the dream of Cristiano Ronaldo and his friends to defend the European Cup title.

Belgium's single goal was scored by Thorgan Hazard in a match held at La Cartuja Stadium, Sevilla, Spain, Sunday 27 June local time. The mega star, Cristiano Ronaldo died in this match because he was only able to create one chance, and even then through a free-kick.

Roberto Martinez's team also qualified for the quarter-finals. Romelu Lukaku and colleagues, will be challenged by Italy, which has already stepped up after passing through the obstacles of Austria.

As the game progressed, as reported by Antara, the Portuguese national team actually appeared more aggressive from the start and launched several dangerous attacks, including in the sixth minute when Diogo Jota received a pass from Renato Sanches, unfortunately, the Liverpool striker's shot was still off target.

In the 25th minute, Portugal had a good chance from a free-kick situation and Cristiano Ronaldo was able to execute it well, but goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois reacted equally well to save the Belgian goal.

Belgium slowly began to build on the better of the attack and came close to taking the lead in the 37th minute when Thomas Meunier curled in a curling shot just to see the ball veer off the left of goalkeeper Rui Patricio.

Five minutes later, the deadlock was finally broken when Thorgan Hazard received a pass from Kevin de Bruyne. Eden Hazard's brother made one touch before finishing with a dive that was enough to outwit Patricio and open up Belgium's lead.

Left behind by a goal Portugal was more aggressive in building attacks in the second half until Ronaldo was able to send a through ball into the Belgian penalty box in the 59th minute, unfortunately, Jota's finish still bounced too high from the target.

Two minutes later Joao Felix, who came on for Joao Moutinho, was able to meet Sanches' cross, unfortunately, his header was still saved by Courtois.

At the opposite end of the pitch, Thorgan Hazard crossed for Romelu Lukaku, but the Inter Milan forward's volley missed the mark.

Portugal continued to attack and in the 82nd minute Bruno Fernandes' corner was met by Ruben Dias with a sharp header, but Courtois reacted swiftly to keep the ball in the Belgian goal mouth.

A minute later, Portugal came close to equalizing when Raphael Guerreiro fired a shot from outside the box that Courtois couldn't reach but the ball hit the post.

Courtois continued to show his scintillating form with his precision in capturing Ronaldo's header which was almost grabbed by Andre Silva in the 88th minute.

Right at the end of injury time, Portugal got one more chance after breaking their opponent's counter-attack, unfortunately, Felix's shot was still off the side of Courtois' goal, ensuring the score 1-0 for Belgium to survive.
