JAKARTA - Danish star Christian Eriksen, who suffered a heart attack during his country's opening Euro 2020 match last weekend, will be fitted with a pacemaker or defibrillator, the Danish Football Union (DBU) announced.
The Inter Milan midfielder collapsed and required cardiac and pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) during Denmark's match against Finland in Copenhagen. Now he is still being treated in hospital.
"After Christian underwent a different cardiac examination, it was decided that he should be fitted with a pacemaker", the Danish soccer body said in a statement posted by Antara on its official Twitter account on Friday.
"This device is needed after someone has a heart attack due to disturbances in heart rhythm", he added.

However, the DBU did not provide details on the potential consequences for the 29-year-old Inter Milan player's future career.
Several footballers, including Dutchman Daley Blind, were able to continue their careers after being fitted with devices that can control and regulate their heart rate.
