JAKARTA - The possibility of Kevin De Bruyne defending Belgium in Euro 2020 is still uncertain because he is still trying to recover from a fractured nasal bone.

The midfielder fractured his nose and eye sockets during last weekend's Champions League final but it will take several days before Belgium decides the player can be included in the squad, coach Roberto Martinez was quoted as saying by Reuters on Thursday.

"I would say that until next week we don't know for sure where we are with Kevin. Now give him time to calm down," continued Martinez, as quoted by Antara, Thursday.

"He could be ready for the Euros but when we are uncertain at the moment. It's too early to give you an answer at this point, we must first get the green light from the medical team."

De Bruyne was due to be included in the Belgium squad just days before their Group B opener against Russia in St Petersburg on June 13 after a full season with Manchester City culminating in the Champions League final.

But his participation was put in doubt after a collision with Chelsea's Antonio Rudiger forced him off the pitch and injured.

"He is still recovering after a very difficult season in terms of the number of games at club level. But every day is important and we are in contact with him every day," Martinez said.

Uncertainty also surrounds captain Eden Hazard, who has been injured for a long time.

Hazard will not feature in Thursday's friendly match against Greece but can still play 45 minutes against Croatia in another warm-up game. Both matches were held in Brussels without spectators.

"Greece will be a fantastic game for us in terms of competitive matches. They will test us on how well we can play a high-pressure match. They are also a team that defends well so we can assess the partnership in the front row," concluded Martinez.
