Champions League Top Scorer: Osimhen Unggungli Mbappe And Haaland

JAKARTA - By scoring a hat trick, Victor Osimhen moved up to the top of the Champions League list of top goalscorers.

The Nigerian striker scored all three goals in Galatasaray's win over Ajax 3-0 in Amsterdam on Thursday, November 6, 2025, early morning WIB.

Osimhen has now collected six goals this season in the European elite club tournament. This number is more than Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappe, and Erling Haaland.

The club from Istanbul signed a permanent Osimhen from Napoli in the summer with a record transfer in the Turkish League (Super Lig), which reportedly reached 75 million euros.

The reason is clear. The 26-year-old striker only took less than 20 minutes to score his first hat trick at the tournament.

He headed in the opener in the 59th minute after receiving a cross from Leroy Sane. In the 66th and 78th minutes, his perfectly executed penalty shot outwitted Ajax goalkeeper Remko Pasveer.

"We have a goal. We know what we want. We know how much performance is needed in the Champions League."

"We want to match the elite teams. It won't be easy, but we will go step by step. We have individual qualities to destroy each team," Osimhen told Galatasaray TV.

In a Champions League match earlier this season, he scored his only goal in a 1-0 win over Liverpool (also from the penalty spot).

He added two more goals to help Galatasaray beat Bodo/Glimt 3-1. Galatasaray won three games in a row and were ninth with nine points midway through the league phase.

Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Saudi Arabian club Al Expert reportedly attracted to Osimhen before he was loaned out to Galatasaray from Napoli in September 2024.

He then helped the club win the Turkish league and Cup (Turkish Cup) in his first season in Turkey. He scored 26 goals in the league and five goals in the Turkish Cup that season.
