RB Leipzig Supporter Dies In Pokal DFB Match

RB Leipzig mourned after a supporter died in the DFB Pokal match (doc. RB Leipzig).

RB Leipzig said one of his supporters died after medical treatment at the German Cup (DFB Pokal) match at the Energie Cottbus headquarters on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.

Leipzig uploaded on X that the fans fell ill when they entered the stadium and later died at a medical clinic. The incident occurred without external interference.

"Currently, football is in the spotlight," said Leipzig's statement.

The Cottbus said the person fainted as the visiting team supporters entered the stadium and died on their way to the hospital.

The atmosphere at der Freundschaft Stadium was silent as supporters of the two clubs refrained from cheering after an announcement about the incident.

Apart from that, Leipzig won 4-1 in that match to advance to the last 16 of the DFB Pokal.
