JAKARTA A total of 24 countries will certainly participate in the prestigious Indonesian Para-Badminton International 2025 badminton event.

The tournament is ready to be held at GOR Manahan, Solo, from October 29, 2025 to November 2, 2025. This year's match presents a much more prestigious scale.

In addition to officially upgrading to Grade 2 Level 1 from the Badminton World Federation (BWF), the tournament increased the prize to 15 thousand US dollars (Rp249 million) from 10 US dollars in the previous year.

The President Director of the Djarum Foundation, Victor Rachmat Hartono, said that this increase in levels shows BWF's confidence in Indonesia's ability to host world-class para-badminton tournaments.

"This is the fourth year that we fully support the implementation of Indonesia Para-Badminton International and this level increase proves that the quality of Indonesian tournaments is increasingly recognized by the world," said Victor.

The tournament participating countries that are confirmed to attend are Australia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Brazil, China, China Taipei, Denmark, Egypt, England, France, Germany, India, Italy, Malaysia, Nigeria, Peru, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United States, Wales, and host Indonesia.

They will compete in 22 categories that are competed, namely the men's and women's singles sector with six categories each, men's doubles four categories, women's doubles three categories, and mixed doubles three categories with classification of WH 1, WH 2, SL 3, SL 4, SU 5, and SH 6.

"We have high hopes that this tournament will become a foothold for athletes to make higher achievements on the world stage. So, hopefully this event will run smoothly and successfully," said Victor.

This tournament is important as a point collection event towards the Paralympic Los Angeles 2028 and warm-up to the ASEAN Para-Games in Thailand at the beginning of next year.

Deputy Secretary General of the Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPC) who is also the Chair of the Implementing Committee, Rima Ferdianto, hopes that all athletes can do their best to score the highest points.

"We hope that this tournament will be useful in supporting para-badminton athletes to continue to participate in their efforts to achieve the highest dream," he said.

Indonesia looks at this event with high optimism for defending the overall title which has been won for three consecutive years.

Leani Ratri Oktila, who is one of Indonesia's mainstay athletes and the 2024 Paris Paralympic gold winner, is also ready to appear in three events with a target of three gold medals.

"The rise in the level of this tournament is a great motivation for us to continue to show our best abilities and maintain Indonesia's golden tradition," said Ratri.

Ratri will later compete in the women's singles SL 4, women's doubles SL 3'SU 5 with Khalimatus Sadiyah, and the mixed doubles SL 3'SU 5 paired with Hikmat Ramdani.
