Breaking Patrick Kluiver's Contract, PSSI Must Pay Compensation Around This

Patrick Kluivert ended his togetherness with the Indonesian National Team (VOI/Karisa Aurelia Tukan).

PSSI officially cut off cooperation with Patrick Kluivert as the coach of the Indonesian national team on Thursday, October 16, 2025.

From the decisions taken, the federation must pay compensation to the Dutch coach in fantastic quantities.

The decision to end this collaboration with Kluiver was taken following the coach's failure to bring the team through the 2026 World Cup.

This assurance was obtained after the Garuda Squad lost to Saudi Arabia and Iraq in the Fourth Round of 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.

Since the defeat in the last match against Iraq, Kluiver's position has been on the brink. The urge to remove the coach emerged. Exactly four days later, PSSI officially stated that Kluivert would no longer be the coach of the Indonesian national team.

Since being appointed to replace Shin Tae-yong in early January 2025, Kluivert has a contract agreement with a duration of two years. However, not yet until that deadline, his contract was terminated.

This is not the first time a Kluiver contract has been terminated in the middle of the road. Previously, Kluivert had also served a short tenure in Turkey with Adana Demirspor.

Based on a FIFA Football Tribune report quoted Thursday, October 16, 2025, from the CLuivert case fired while handling a Turkish club in 2024, he received compensation of 150 thousand euros, equivalent to Rp. 2.9 billion.

The compensation was obtained by Kluiver after being fired by Adana Demirspor on December 4, 2023, or less than six months after being appointed as coach. That amount does not include remuneration of 142,666 thousand euros or equivalent to Rp2.74 billion.

It is believed that the amount of compensation and remuneration at the event will not be much different if PSSI then decides to fire Kluivert from the Indonesian national team coach's seat before his tenure ends according to the contract.
