PSSI Rejects Hotel Recommendations For The Indonesian National Team In Saudi Arabia

The Indonesian national team chose their own hotel in Saudi Arabia rather than a recommendation from SAFF (VOI/Karisa Aurelia Tukan).

JAKARTA - The Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) has recommended hotel accommodation for the Indonesian national team ahead of the 2026 World Cup Qualification Fourth Round at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, Jeddah. However, the recommendation was rejected by PSSI because it had made its own choice.

This statement regarding the rejection of the SAFF accommodation recommendation was made by the Indonesian National Team Manager, Sumardji. He said the Garuda Squad had sent staff first to ensure conditions in Saudi Arabia.

"So, the Saudi Arabian Football Federation has recommended to us to stay where and so on while there."

"However, we already have a team that goes first to check the conditions. After checking, we decided to stay at the Hyatt Hotel, not as recommended by Saudi Arabia (SAFF)," Sumardji said in a statement quoted Wednesday, October 1.

Previously, PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir had also mentioned that the Indonesian national team would stay at hotels that were not the choice of the match organizing committee in Saudi Arabia.

This decision was made to avoid unwanted things. However, PSSI has confirmed that Indonesian national team players are in the best condition before fighting Saudi Arabia.

According to the schedule set by FIFA and AFC, the Indonesian national team will undergo the 2026 World Cup Qualification Fourth Round match against Saudi Arabia on October 8, 2025.

After that, Patrick Kluivert's team will face Iraq on October 11, 2025. All of these matches will take place at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, Jeddah.
