Ubed Ready To Debut BWF Super 500 At Hong Kong Open 2025

Mohammad Zaki Ubaidillah will debut in the BWF Super 500 tournament (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA Men's singles badminton player Mohammad Zaki Ubaidillah or familiarly called Ubed is ready to make his debut at the BWF Super 500 level tournament at the Hong Kong Open 2025 this week.

The Hong Kong Open will take place from 9-14 September 2025 in Hong Kong Coliseum. Ubed started the journey from the qualifying round against deputy hosts Jason Gunawan.

Ubed said he was happy and impatient to have his debut match. However, he realized his journey would not be easy because he had to go through the qualifying round.

"It's great to debut in Super 500. This is my opportunity to see and feel the competition of high-end players," Ubed said in a statement received.

Ubed came to Hong Kong Open with his status as the 2025 junior Asian champion last July. He managed to climb the highest podium after defeating China's singles, Liu Yang Ming Yu.

After that, Ubed appeared at the Super 300 Macau Open 2025. However, his journey ran aground in the second half after losing against compatriot Alwi Farhan.

"The preparation has been quite good since one month ago. Here it will start from the qualifying round, so it is not easy to advance to the main round. Hopefully I can get through it," said Ubed.

Ubed's debut appearance was also welcomed by Alwi Farhan. He said that Ubed could use his performance in Hong Kong to welcome the Junior World Championships in October 2025.

"Hopefully we can give the best for the men's singles and Indonesia. Hopefully he can perform optimally. This is also an opportunity for him to add experience," said Alwi.

Indonesia has sent a total of 12 representatives at the Hong Kong Open 2025. Apart from Ubed and Alwi, the men's singles also sent Anthony Sinisuka Ginting.
