Outperforming Manchester United, Man City Prints Contract Record With Puma

JAKARTA - Manchester City has extended cooperation with Puma. This new contract with German apparel is not only long but also exceeding the highest figure, 1 billion, which outperforms the contract value of one city rival Manchester United.

MU always dominates and records the highest every time he renews his official contract. When extending his contract with Adidas for the next 10 years in 2023, MU can earn 900 million or approximately 19.5 trillion rupiah every year.

Interestingly, MU got a contract extension with the highest record when the club's achievements were sluggish. MU has never won the English Premier League since 2013 and has only occasionally competed in the Champions League. Compared to the era of Sir Alex Ferguson when he won glory, United has never missed Europe's highest caste competition.

However, the MU brand has indeed been global so that it is able to set a record for contracts with Adidas. The team may fall and more often reap defeat despite playing at home at Old Trafford. However, MU has millions of fans around the world who still support the team.

However, MU's record was finally broken by Man City, who successfully renewed his contract with Puma which was no less long, which was 10 years.

From that contract, Man City earned 1 billion pounds or approximately 21.7 trillion rupiahs annually. Previously, when he started working with Puma in 2019, Man City 'only' got 650 million pounds.

Now, Puma is increasing the contract value with The Cityzens. This is also a contract with the highest record in the history of football clubs in the world as well as past the 950 million contract from Real Madrid with Adidas.

Man City's success in obtaining the highest contract is inseparable from the brilliant achievements over the last few years, especially since 2020.

Man City won the Premier League four times in a row. They also became the second team in the Premier League after Manchester United who won trebles in 2023.

"Together with Puma, we have ambitions to challenge ourselves to go beyond expectations. Our achievements over the past six seasons," said Ferran Soriano, CEO of City Football Group.

"We have achieved everything and more over the last six seasons. Now with this extension, our relationship and project will shine more in the future," he said.

With a record-breaking contract, Man City was forced to increase revenue from merchandise and club jerseys. Despite winning success by winning various trophies, Man City's income was actually the lowest among the 'big six' members.

This means that Man City is still losing to Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur which ended last season by occupying the bottom.

MU's almost relegated income reached 127 million from merchandise and jerseys, including t-shirts, sports pants and the like. Interestingly, that figure is the same as that obtained by Liverpool who emerged as champions of the 2025 Premier League.
