JAKARTA - Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) CEO Dana White said former two-division champion Conor McGregor will not get a fight at the UFC in the near future after not fighting since 2021.
"He (Conor McGregor) will not fight in the near future. I haven't spoken to him in a minute, but yes, I don't know," Dana White said in an MMA Fighting page report quoting Antara.
McGregor has not fought again since experiencing a broken leg in the fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021.
White was previously optimistic that "The Notorious" would return in 2025, but now the UFC star's future is unclear.
McGregor's return has been complicated by a number of factors. In addition to pursuing opportunities outside the fight, including the main role in the 2024 film remake Road House, the Irish star also suffered a toe injury that forced him out of a fight scheduled for Michael Chandler in June 2024.
The 36-year-old fighter was also recently held responsible for sexual violence in a civil charge related to the 2018 incident in Dublin and is currently facing other civil charges over alleged sexual assault in Miami in 2023.
Mcgregor has uploaded a recording of the exercise to his social media, but it's unclear whether it indicates that he will be returning to compete.

White is always looking for new stars, although he doesn't expect fighters to follow in the same footsteps as McGregor.
According to him, there will never be another McGregor. There will be other superstars that appear, he said, but there will never be another Conor McGregor. As is the case, there will never be another Ronda Rousey and there will never be another Chuck Liddell, another Georges St-Pierre.
White said the fighters had created their own extraordinary character in a career at the UFC, but career decisions depended on the fighters.
"I've always been looking for the best fighters in the world and the rest depends on them," he said.
