JAKARTA The Indonesian outdoor hockey national team immediately rushed to prepare for the 2025 SEA Games after achieving unsatisfactory results in the 2025 Asian Cup Outdoor Hockey Championships.
In the event which took place at the Bung Karno Complex Hockey Field (GBK) Senayan, Jakarta, and only ended on Sunday, April 27, 2025, the Indonesian women's team was ranked fourth, while the men's team was in ninth position.
Secretary General of the Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Hockey Federation (PP FHI), Yasser Arafat Suaidy, said that the results above will be used as evaluation material to deal with the closest SEA Games in Thailand.
"We will conduct an evaluation to see the strengths and weaknesses so that Indonesia can be even more prepared when facing stiff competition at the SEA Games later," Yasser said in a statement received.

As part of preparations for the 2025 SEA Games, the Indonesian outdoor hockey team plans to undergo training camp (TC) and trials in Australia.
Yasser admitted that the planned training camp and trial plans for July 2025 have received support from the President of the Federation of Hockey Oceania (OHF), Cameron Vale.
"The plan is to dispatch 40 players. We have received the green light from OHF President Cameron Vale. TC and this trial are very important in an effort to improve Indonesia's outdoor hockey achievements when appearing in Thailand later," he said.
The Indonesian outdoor hockey national team previously won two bronze medals at the 2023 Cambodian SEA Games. This achievement is expected to increase in Thailand.
Yasser also ensured that the Indonesian men's indoor hockey national team would undergo a training camp in Germany in preparation for the same multi-branch event while trying to defend the gold medal.
"Given that the competition is quite tight, they need time to fly to improve their achievements so they can defend the gold medal at the 2025 Thailand SEA Games," he said.
The hockey sport at the Thailand 2025 SEA Games will compete for six gold medals, namely men's-daughter outdoor hockey, men's-daughter's indoor hockey, and men's-daughter hockey.
Previously, at the 2023 Cambodian SEA Games, hockey sports only competed for four gold medals from the men's and women's indoor hockey numbers.
