JAKARTA - Athletic Bilbao failed to overtake Granada after being held to a 2-2 draw by Real Valladolid in a La Liga match at San Mames, Wednesday evening local time.

Jon Morcillo put the hosts ahead in the 14th minute after a left-footed shot from outside the penalty box entered through the bottom right corner of Valladolid's goal.

Almost half an hour since the second half started in the 70th minute, Valladolid was only able to equalize through Fabian Orellana's goal after heading Oscar Plano's assist which was preceded by a corner.

Six minutes later in the 76th minute, Bilbao regains their lead through veteran striker Raul Garcia after firing from close range following Inaki Williams' assist following a fast break.

However, this advantage did not last long because the visitors returned to equalize in the 85th minute.

This time it was Shon Weissman who equalized after continuing Saidu Janko's pass with a right-footed shot from the middle of the penalty box which targeted the bottom right corner of Valladolid's goal.

These results make Bilbao rank ninth in the La Liga standings after picking four draws from the last five matches.

They are exactly one point ahead of Celta Vigo, who is in tenth place and have 42 points but lost on goal difference from Granada, who are in eighth.

The teams are seven points behind seventh-placed Villarreal and eight points behind Real Betis.

Valladolid himself failed to stay away from the relegation zone by only being able to move to 17th place with the same 30 points as Elche who was 18th, but only one point behind Alaves who is in 16th.

Los Leones travel to Sevilla in their next match, before hosting Osasuna.

After that, they visited Huesca before hosting Real Madrid and ended the season with their final match against Elche.

Meanwhile, Valladolid hosted Betis in their next match before traveling to Valencia, then hosted Villarreal, and then again visited Real Sociedad and then hosted Atletico Madrid in their last La Liga match, according to the Football Espana page.
