Newcastle News Of Alexander Isak's Injury Won't Take Long

JAKARTA - Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is not sure if his top scorer, Alexander Isak, will be available for the FA Cup Fifth Round match on Sunday, March 2, 2025 against Brighton. However, he believes that the forward will not miss long.

Isak - has scored 21 goals in all competitions this season and is third on the list of Premier League top goalscorers with 19 goals - not playing in the 0-2 defeat on Thursday, February 27, 2025, against Liverpool with a groin injury.

"I haven't seen him since that game. We'll see how he is today."

"We don't think it's a long-term problem. No risks were taken on Thursday."

"It is impossible considering the season we are currently living. There is always a risk with any player."

"However, we will not take any risks to his fitness in the long term."

"We'll see how his condition is today. If he is fit, he will play," said Eddie Howe about Isak on Friday, February 28, 2025.

The 25-year-old's injury comes amid a busy schedule that included the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool on March 16, 2025.

Newcastle are in sixth place in the Premier League, three points behind Manchester City who are in fourth place or the Champions League zone. They continue to strive to qualify for the European tournament next season.

Judging from the schedule, Howe said it was important for Isak to play if he was fit to avoid fatigue.

"In my opinion, with Alex, it's pretty clear to me that if he's fit in any game ahead of the Carabao Cup final, he's going to play. We have to have that mindset with all of our players."

"You can't save players because they will lose the rhythm. It's best for a player to stay in good form and stay fit."

"That's what we're going to try to do with all our players," Howe said again.

Alexander Isak has become an important player for the Magpies this season. Before being sidelined in the match against Liverpool, he was only missing four games in all competitions.

The defeat against the Reds was also linked to Isak's absence. However, Howe dismissed it.

"We recognize Alex's strength and abilities. I don't think we are a team that relies on just one player."

"I will never classify us in that group. However, Alex brings unique quality to the role of the center forward, in the important middle role we need."

"We have other ways of playing and the skills of other players to take advantage of. I think there are a lot of good things in our performance against Liverpool."
