Real Madrid Hold Emergency Meetings After Losing To Barcelona

Real Madrid had to rise after receiving strong criticism following their second defeat to Barcelona (Instagram/@realmadrid).

JAKARTA - The Spanish newspaper, Marca, said Real Madrid held an emergency meeting between Los Blancos President Florentino Perez, with Manager Carlo Ancelotti, and Director Jose Angel Sanchez.

The report said an emergency meeting was held following Real Madrid's crushing 2-5 defeat to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final on Monday, January 13, 2025, early morning WIB.

Ancelotti must take it directly and at the same time analyze the state of his troops after the defeat.

He considered the lack of collective commitment to be a factor in defeat to such tough rivals.

In addition, a storm of injuries still overshadowing Real Madrid urged them to bring in players on the winter exchange remaining less than three weeks.

"The lack of commitment is collective, not individual. It is a bad game in terms of defense across all lines. Nothing else needs to be added."

"I have to clarify one thing, this is a press conference and not a debate. We have done that with the players and coaching staff. Doing it here, in my opinion, is not the most appropriate thing," said Ancelotti.
