Paulo Fonseca: No Talk Of Dismissal With AC Milan

JAKARTA - AC Milan manager Paulo Fonseca has dismissed growing speculation about his future on Monday, December 30, 2024.

He stressed that he had not discussed his role with anyone and was not afraid.

Rumors of his possible departure dominated Italian media coverage after a 1-1 draw at home against AS Roma in Week 18 of Serie A, Monday, December 30, 2024, early morning WIB.

The Rossoneri have so far had an unfavorable season, being ranked eighth in the Serie A and 12th in the Champions Leagues this season.

"Did I have a difficult meeting with Zlatan Ibrahimovic (AC Milan senior adviser)?" Fonseca said of rumors that he had spoken to Ibrahimovic.

"No, I haven't spoken to anyone. I haven't seen anyone from the club. I can't say anything more."

"I can't make things up that haven't happened yet," he told a news conference after the game.

"I've never been afraid in my life in football. I'll continue like this."

"For me, it's important to always have a clean conscience. I work, I'm honest with those who work with me. I'm not afraid of anything," he said again.

Because there was no talk about his dismissal, Fonseca is confident that he will still lead AC Milan in the Italian Supercoppa semifinals after the New Year against Juventus in Riyadh, January 4, 2025.

"I can expect it. I have no opposite signs. Now I'm going home, I'm going to watch the game, and then I'll think about working," Fonseca said.

Fonseca further said he did not regret the work he had done so far in Milan, since arriving in June 2024 replacing Stefano Pioli.

Meanwhile, in the match against AS Roma, Fonseca became the center of attention shortly before the break.

He protested strongly when Tijjani Reijnders fell in the penalty box. This caused him to be expelled for disagreement after the referee stopped the match.

"I was too much in my protest at the time, but I didn't want to say anything. This is a very clear situation for me," Fonseca told DAZN.
