PSSI revealed that FIFA had inspected 13 stadiums in Indonesia. This step was carried out as a form of a series of transformations of football in the country.
In an official release distributed by PSSI quoted on Friday, December 20, 2024, it was stated that FIFA had visited 13 stadiums in the country in the span of December 15, 2024. During the period of transformation of Indonesian football, this was the second visit.
The visit aims to increase security and safety standards in stadiums throughout Indonesia. The target is to make the experience of watching football more secure and comfortable for Indonesian football supporters.
PSSI and FIFA work together to create a safer, inclusive football environment, and rebuild people's trust in football.
Previously, during the inaugural visit in May 2024, FIFA had conducted inspections of eight stadiums. With the addition of the latest 13 stadium studies, it means that there are 21 stadiums visited by FIFA located in 12 provinces.
This initiative is also a form of support for the renovation of the stadium being carried out by the Ministry of Public Works. This is in line with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between FIFA and PSSI which was signed during the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Indonesia for the transformation of stadium security and safety in Indonesia.

The FIFA team conducting the inspection included stadium security and safety experts from Europe, namely Ben Veenbrink and Lavin Vignesh who served in the FIFA Lead Regional Office and were accompanied by Adi Nugroho as Director of Infrastructure Security and Safety.
This step was carried out as a transformation of Indonesian football which was the mandate of FIFA after the Kanjuruhan Tragedy on October 1, 2022. The incident claimed 135 lives in Malang.
PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir said this FIFA visit was part of a collaboration for the advancement of Indonesian football. This step was all taken for the safety of the audience.
"This collaboration is our real commitment to improving the quality and security of football stadiums throughout Indonesia," Erick said in an official federation release on the PSSI website.
"With the support of FIFA, we want to make sure our stadiums meet international standards. So, players, officials and fans can enjoy football in a sense of security."
"This is an important step to build a better football environment in Indonesia," he said again.
The study of these stadiums is focused on several main steps. Among other things, providing detailed recommendations to improve stadium security, developing safety guidelines that are in accordance with conditions and needs in Indonesia, as well as designing stadium certification and licensing systems that meet international standards.
