Lando Norris Rai Pole For Abu Dhabi GP F1, Hamilton Apes

JAKARTA - Lando Norris will start the Formula One (F1) race for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix or the final series for the 2024 season from the leading position after winning pole position in the Qualification on Saturday, December 7, 2024, WIB night.

Norris' teammate Oscar Piastri secured the second grid to ensure that the front row position was controlled by McLaren.

This position leaves McLaren's chances of winning the constructors' title wide open in the F1 2024 final series.

Max Verstappen initially recorded the fastest time to gain a temporary pole during the first round of Q3 (Kualifikasi 3).

However, Norris shot up during the decisive final round to overtake Verstappen's record with a record of 1 minute 22.595 seconds, winning 0.209 from Piastri.

Ferrari's Carlos Sainz is in third place, while Nico Hulkenberg won a sensational fourth place in his final season for Haas.

Verstappen finally had to settle for fifth place, in front of Alpine's Pierre Gasly in sixth place and Mercedes' George Russell in seventh.

Fernando Alonso took eighth place for Aston Martin, beating Valtteri Bottas who advanced to Q3 and received praise from the Kick Sauber team. While Sergio Perez of Red Bull completed the top 10.

Charles Leclerc's session ended in Q2 (Qualification 2) when his final record was removed due to a trajectory, placing him on the 14th grid in the race later.

Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson failed to advance. The two RB-Honda riders are in 11th and 12th positions. While Lance Stroll of Aston Martin also leaves Q2 who will start the race from 13th.

Then, Kevin Magnussen was in 15th place in his final weekend race for Haas.

Big news from Q1 is Lewis Hamilton who was eliminated early in his final qualifying session for Mercedes.

The seven-time world champion ended Qualification on the 18th grid after hitting a barrier pole that was released and thrown into the track by Magnussen.

The rider who was also eliminated was Alex Albon from Williams in 16th position, Zhou Guanyu from Kick Sauber in 17th position, Franco Colapinto from Williams in 19th position, and Alpine's Jack Doohan ended his first F1 qualification session in 20th position.

The 2024 Abu Dhabi GP F1 race will take place at the Yas Marina Circuit on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at 20.00 WIB.

The Grand Prix is the last or 24 series in the F1 2024 season.

Meanwhile, Max Verstappen has confirmed the 2024 F1 world champion at the Las Vegas GP (22nd series) on November 24, 2024.

This means that the results of the Abu Dhabi GP race will not affect his position at the top of the drivers' standings with 429 points.

At best, the excitement occurred for the runner-up race. Norris is now in second place with 349 points, followed by Charles Leclerc (341) and Oscar Piastri (291).

Only Norris and Leclerc fought for second place in the drivers' standings.

Then in the constructors' standings, McLaren is still in the top spot with 640 points, followed by Ferrari (619) and Red Bull Racing (581).
